Dear families,
We have two weeks to go before Spring Break. This week we will start a new unit in math on 2D and 3D figures. In science we are learning about the solar system. We will focus on the following:
- Essential Vocabulary: solids, cone, cylinders, spheres, triangular and rectangular prisms, cubes, attributes, quadrilateral, rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, squares
- Sort Polygons - regular vs irregular polygons
- Define two dimensional figures and three dimensional figures
- Hands on activities: create your own 2D and 3D figures
- Classifying and sorting 2D and 3D figures by attributes
- Daily Drill: build numerical fluency, automaticity
- Spiral Up multi-step problem-solving skills
- Identify the relative size and positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun in the Solar System
- Identify the orbits of the Earth and Moon in relation to the Sun
- Construct a model of the Sun, Earth, Moon relationship and identify the limitations of a model
- Project Based Learning: Compassion Project, Healthy Me Project
